Those who use wheelchairs can also take buses.
Please do not hesitate to ask bus staff for help. However, you might be asked to fold your wheelchair if the entrance of the bus is too narrow, etc. Thank you for your understanding in advance.
You do not have to fold your wheelchair to take busses with a wheelchair mark, as a ramp for wheelchairs is equipped on these buses.
【Cases when it is difficult to take buses with a wheelchair 】
You might be asked not to take the bus in the following cases. Thank you for your understanding in advance;
- When the bus is fully crowded and therefore a wheelchair cannot be secured properly.
- When it is difficult to use a wheelchair due to the following structure of the bus, etc.
①The entrance of the bus is too narrow for the wheelchair to board (generally 80 cm or less).
②The isle of the bus is too narrow to secure the wheelchair (generally 30 cm or more space is required).
③Neither the bus nor the wheelchair have an appropriate equipment to secure the wheelchair.
④Electric wheelchairs cannot take express buses, as it is difficult to provide enough space. However, folding type wheelchairs can take these buses when they can be put in the luggage compartment of the bus.
Wearing seat belts is required
The “Revised Road Traffic Law”, which obligates the wearing of seat belts even for rear seats, and punishes violators, has been enforced since June 2008, and therefore bus passengers also have become subject to wear seat belts.
Tobu bus group tries our best to drive safe, however please be sure to wear seat belts as your security is our first priority.
Thank you for your cooperation in wearing seat belts equipped at seats when taking buses with seat belts, such as express and sightseeing buses.
